2021 Sauvignon Blanc, Michael's Reserve

$36.00 per Bottle

Our barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc brings the crisp acidity that you'd expect to find in Lake County Sauvignon Blanc, but with added layers of complexity. Light oak influences the nose along with orange blossoms, honeydew melon and slate. The oak is well integrated on the palate creating a creamy mouthfeel. Sweet Honeysuckle and acidic finish.

We hand-picked the luscious grapes on September 1, 2021, in Block 2 of Michael’s Vineyard, the 12-acre vineyard site located at the entrance of our Ranch. The grapes were cold soaked for 18 hours to bring out the phenolic characters of the fruit; then the juice was gently whole-cluster pressed off the skin. 60% of the juice was fermented in French Oak barrels and aged “sur lie” (no racking) with lees stirring to build body and mouthfeel. This portion of the juice was given a yeast to enhance the natural Thiols found in the grapes to bring out tropical and citrus notes. The remaining juice was fermented in stainless steel tank using a yeast to add complexity and minerality. The wine was filtered before bottling.

The richness of this wine makes it a perfect companion to Asian Foods, roasted chicken, chicken Caesar salad, shellfish dipped in butter, paella, and rich cheeses (such as Mount Tam from Cowgirl Creamery). Alcohol: 14%. Production 200 cases.
